We come to the last part of this review of the browser that protects your privacy, Brave Browser. Dedicate this last article to what is undoubtedly the most outstanding feature of it: Brave Rewards. So I will tell you about my experience with Brave Rewards and my opinion on the program.
The advantages of Brave
As we have said several times, Brave Browser tries to develop a different business model than the one that all internet browsers have followed so far. Not only by storing your users’ data, but also by sharing the benefits of your surfing with them.
So when you download Brave Browser, you have two options. The first is to navigate normally without having to see advertisements.
The second option is to join Rewards, the program that allows you to display a certain number of ads per hour. In return, Brave grants you 70% of receipt for every ad in BAT, the browser’s cryptocurrency.
So that we can save these tokens, Brave provides all users with a wallet integrated in the browser, in which all tokens you have collected are stored. In my experience with Brave Rewards, I have to say that configuring the advertisements you will see is fairly simple. You can display 1 to 5 ads per hour that are shown to you in the least invasive way.
This is perhaps the main problem when using Brave Rewards. With an ad limit of 5 ads per hour, Rewards is not a very efficient way to make money.
Take only 5 cents after a week. Considering that most of the time I didn’t even notice the ads, I can of course say that while it doesn’t make a big contribution to my income, it doesn’t bother when it is activated.
Contribute to the websites you are browsing
Another way to use Brave Rewards is to reward the creators of the content you consume while surfing the Internet. As a result, Brave will provide a certain amount of BAT to the developers associated with its program each month based on how much time the browser users have spent viewing the content.
This would be an alternative means of income for users who devote their time to creating the content that we see every day on the Internet. You will receive your payment monthly as we do for the ads we see surfing.
The major limitation of the scope of this project is of course the previously reduced number of websites associated with Brave Rewards. This prevents the benefits from being as broad as possible. Depending on the success of the project, the browser is massified.
Do I stay with Brave Browser?
After using Brave Browser as a head browser for a week, I have to accept that I have bound myself to the lion. If the fact that my data is stored only by myself is not attractive enough to stay in Brave, I am undoubtedly convinced of the effectiveness with which unwanted advertising is combated.
And the fact is that surfing the web without worrying that even an ad that annoys me could appear is quite a change in the way I was used to living on the internet.
If we also combine this feature with the options for private browsing, customization and the potential of Brave Rewards, I have to say that my experience with Brave has been quite satisfactory. For this reason, I will continue to use this as my primary browser at least in the near future.
